Credit Cards
Credit cards are accepted by virtually every shop and restaurant, and most hotels. Visitors should check in advance to ascertain which properties accept credit cards.
Currency
The East Caribbean Dollar is the currency used locally. It is linked to the US dollar. At the banks you will get EC$2.67 for US$1.00 cash and EC$2.68 for US$1.00 travellers cheques. Shops will give EC$2.60 for US$1.00. DM cash is accepted at Barclays bank only. DM1.00 is approximately EC$1.70. £1.00 is approximately EC$4.00.
Passenger Tax
Air passenger/Departure Tax - $35 EC for person 12 and older
Air passenger/Departure Tax - $17.50 EC for children 5 to 11
Children under 5 years exempt
(Departure tax is collected when leaving the island).
